question about "Batch Image Manipulation"
#1
Photo
Hi,
I use Gimp to every week to manipulate a batch of photos (50 to 150), with "Batch Image Manipulation plugin" the primarily to reduce the size and convert them to jpg.

Recently, this batch process took the initiative to rotate the photos... ! From vertial to portrait.
And I don't know why.

Here's a screenshot  of the plugin with two manipulation (resize and change format/compression, but in french)

Maybe you have an answer ?
Thx

ahh... I think this comes under unforeseen consequences.

Some time in the past: Open an image and apply settings
Do not ask me again  <<< not a good choice
and
Keep Original

No easy way in Gimp 2.10 to revert that setting (apart from a complete reset) so find in your Gimp 2.10 user profile  the file parasiterc  and delete it.

I have tried in Gimp 2.10 / BIMP and that is a fix.

It works, thanks a lot ! Cool

(PS: sorry for the poor language in my first message, I didn't proofread it.)

I must add:
This manoeuver need to be done every time I open Gimp...
So maybe is it preferable to do a complete reset ?
I still don't understand why this rotation suddendly appears after two or three years of use...

I do not think a complete reset - usually by deleting (or renaming) your user profile - will have much effect. You will get a new parasiterc file but it is a drastic way.  However do try it.

Why you need to delete parasiterc each time you open Gimp I do not know.  Do you tick the "Don't ask me again" when importing an image that needs rotating ? In Gimp 2.10 there is no reverse action that I know for that.  Gimp 3 is slightly different .

The picture orientation is put in the file by the camera, the exif information.  You can remove it and images will open in landscape orientation.  You can remove the exif information using Exiftool see:

and

Edit: There is an exif cleaner here - https://github.com/szTheory/exifcleaner/releases but be careful it is an immediate action

or maybe for Gimp 2.10 and BIMP a little plugin https://www.gimp-forum.net/Thread-Plugin...1#pid13501
