When I use the bucket fill tool, a lot of the image where the bucket fill happened is still the original color. In the attached photo, you can see that in areas that I filled grey, there are still blue or yellow specks. How do I fix this?

Hi, I wanted to get an effect like the one you get with Elementor when adding a background layer to an image. The original image would be the one in the first photo, and the result I want to achieve is the one in the second photo.

Hi folks!

I have a silly problem with gimp and linux bash.
I have a very simple gimp script that work well when called from a interactive shell.
I have a shell script that call the gimp script, so I have not typing all the gimp invocation.
The shell script call the gimp script: but gimp never exit and does not create files.
The same problem when I used "source" to execute the bash script directly in the interactive shell.
Have anyone a similar problem??

I send attached the two scripts and the output of the two forms of calling the gimp script, directly or with the bash script.

There are two differences: the message "batch command executed successfully" is show one or two times, and in the first case all work well and newfiles are generated, in the second I have to interrupt gimp (Ctrl-C) and no file is generated.

Any insight?

Hi I am trying to make a gif for the first time and it works but instead of each layer playing after one another they stay visable after they play meaning i have loads of layers visable at all times like in attachment how do i make them play and dissaper when the next image shows? and how do you control the speed they play at? kind regards -buill

Good to know > I never really used BIMP, I'm a xnconvert guy (it has curves as well), and use exclusively Linux.

Having said that, I'm trying to implement batch process in a company, although I have to use do it with Xnview/xnConvert, and could implement this in no time, I would like to do it with GIMP/BIMP... just to have one software workflow (and a good license).

So, I'm trying to install BIMP on a M$ windows 7 with GIMP 2.10.32, downloaded directly from there https://alessandrofrancesconi.it/projects/bimp/ this seems to not gonna to happen, it says it cannot find where GIMP is installed (can't do screenshot now, it's week-end), tried many things, like browsing folders via the installer, tried to put that exe thing in the plug-in as well, this does not work as re-starting GIMP did not put it in the File > Batch Image Manipulation in the menu , nothing-nada..
Any thoughts?
BTW this windoz 7 is not my computer, it a computer from a staff I'm training for a company, yes I got full rights on that windoz 7

Another problem I did some try with BIMP and curves > this time on my computer (it's a *buntu 20.04, and yes I did clean the curves history after that screenshot, "Threshold" was the more impressive to clean )
I saved a curve setting named test

   

then in BIMP > add another procedure > search for "curves" input "test",  

   

and as a result...
I got something from another world... I'm sure it's even from another galaxy, literally unusable image

Hi guys. I've seen some Photoshop masters of photo manipulation, like Benny productions for example, that use blend-if functionality to make the highlights blend better with the object. Here is an example in tutorial: https://youtu.be/2dpWkJeU7TM?t=370, and this is from Benny - https://youtu.be/yUPIChL7_x8?t=427. Is it possible to achieve this in GIMP? Maybe with Color to Alpha? I tried to do it like this:





With color to alpha applied to the first layer (also mask to selection to affect only the area of the highlights)but the results are not very good.

This is the source image in pexels. (I also decreased the temperature and exposure.)

On the linked image, the top graphic is a brush.   The next graphic down is a line created by stroking a straight  path with that brush.

The third line is stroking a slightly bowed path, again with the same brush.  Note all the gaps and imperfections.

Am I just missing something that needs to be done to smooth this out?

I've pondered just using something out of the "distorts" menu, since the curvature I need in this instance is small. But sincerely wonder if there is just some brush setting that I am overlooking?  I've run into this problem a number of times and have never found a suitable solution.

New to the forum and GIMP

I have been using CS2 for years ( I know really old!!!   ) but got fed up with it and been trying out GIMP.
Been going ok so far but one question i have is about using Alpha To Selection

I want to put mulit photos into a shape so looked at videos etc... and found that adding Alpha to Selection on the shape then putting a layer mask on the picture would put this in the shape.

Problem i have is how to do remove the alpha selection afterwards as any layer effect i would to do on something else only happens on that layer.
So example is if i wanted to do a drop shadow on text it wont appear but go on the shape with the alpha select on it.

Sure i am doing something wrong.

This is one of those stories where multiple machines get stuck trying to rescue a stuck machine. I've seen this happen and it can get ugly.
BTW. HeavyD will try to sell you some green supplements which is how UTube is going - ad breaks in the videos and ads inside the videos. Thankfully they don't do it on music clips
