Posted by: mariah701 - 12-21-2023, 08:52 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (3)

I have no idea why every youtube video shows gradient option, I have none of those options I use GIMP  2.10.36 and I have given up so I am just gonna ask for help here.

I want this image  all the end parts to fade in the pink background, gimp is beyond complicated
also the guitar edges should fade into pink if thats possible

Scheme Batch export all opened images in GIMP at once V3.22343567
Posted by: PixLab - 12-21-2023, 12:19 AM - Forum: Extending the GIMP - Replies (20)

I did some changes due to a suggestion made by Michael Schumacher from the GIMP team on reddit over there > https://www.reddit.com/r/GIMP/comments/1...?context=3

There was a potential inconvenience when exporting all images THEN when closing GIMP or closing an exported image, GIMP would not ask if you want to save the XCF, which can be inconvenient  Wink

I added this option, it is set by default after exporting an image then closing it, or closing GIMP, that GIMP will ask you if you want to save the XCF,
Untick this option and GIMP will not ask you this thus not saving the GIMP's XCF

here is the latest script, with the manual > I did updated the manual as well, it's a good read  Big Grin

Question Gimp 1.2 packaged with Developer Shareware version of InstallerVise, can I use it?
Posted by: D. Henryk - 12-20-2023, 09:19 PM - Forum: Older Gimp versions (2.8, 2.6....) - Replies (5)

Howdy everyone,

(and plz sorry for bad English)

Years ago I bought a Cd-rom magazine with, among other software, The Gimp v 1.2 included in its Cd-rom. This was my first contact with The Gimp and I really liked it, and I use it until today in my Win98 PC. But recently I realized that the distribution of The Gimp in the version 1.2 was done with the use of the Developer Shareware version of InstallerVise, which forbids distribution of commercial software as it shows right when we start the setup of The Gimp v. 1.2, the pics below show it clearly:

And now I'm afraid I can be using The Gimp illegally.

Being an Open Source software, is The Gimp included in the definition of 'Commercial Software' which shouldn't be distributed with such version of InstallerVise? Or I'm free to use this version of The Gimp anyway? I guess the developer knew that and, if he insisted on using that InstallerVise, so it very probably is okay, but... I can't be sure, so I googled a lot, trying to find discussions about it or infos about it but no success. I even tried to look for other packagings of The Gimp online, but all the packagings of The Gimp in its 1.2 version were always done with the use of InstallerVise.

Also, the fact that The Gimp, packaged with such version of InstallerVise, was distributed in a magazine Cd-Rom makes it illegal somehow, making me unable to use it legally?

EDIT: I found a Wikipedia article about what is a Commercial Software, it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commercial...20software.

According to this definition, The Gimp can very probably be considered non-commercial software, as it's packaged with no commercial/business intentions. So, having this definition in mind, can I be in peace with the use of The Gimp distributed with that version of InstallerVise? What are your thoughts about it?

I would like to edit one post

I would like like to edit one post/thread > https://www.gimp-forum.net/Thread-Export...r-settings

I did some changes due to a suggestion made by Michael Schumacher from the GIMP team on reddit over there > https://www.reddit.com/r/GIMP/comments/1...images_at/

The script and the manual are updated, but I feel like I would spam if I open AGAIN a new thread for that (already 3 opned).

Is it possible to let me edit this thread or do I open a new thread?

  Converting photo into raster
Posted by: cyclist - 12-18-2023, 03:12 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (18)

Hi all,

I have been using GIMP for quite a while now and I wonder if there is an easy way to use GIMP to convert a photo into a raster image like this:

Any help will be appreciated.

Shift Selection Not Working on Windows
Posted by: EasyGoingPat - 12-18-2023, 08:05 AM - Forum: General questions - Replies (1)

Hi,

I am trying to use the Alignment tool. I have followed the instructions online and can select the first layer okay but am unable to select the next layer. I get the hand icon but SHIFT-select does nothing. I have also tried lots of other key combinations.

I am guessing I am missing something obvious. Is anyone able to help me out?

(Sorry, I know this is a difficult ask without a video to show what's happening.)

Kind wishes - Patrick

Scheme How to make grayed options when an option is selected (script-fu)?
Posted by: PixLab - 12-16-2023, 08:50 AM - Forum: Scripting questions - No Replies

Let say a user select an option on the UI, I would like some setting (SF-TOGGLE or SF-ADJUSTMENT or SF-WHATNOT) disappear from the UI > hide them,
Similarly if User chose another option, other settings appears

Example with an image:

Can I do that? Some idea to do it?

Is it possible to modify guides in script-fu to allow their placement outside canvas?
Posted by: Dogarithm - 12-16-2023, 12:21 AM - Forum: Scripting questions - Replies (7)

Not much to add outside the thread subject line. Heck, you've probably found yourself wondering the same. The reason I'd like to do this, and desperately wish guides could be dragged off-canvas and NOT disappear is all about making vanishing points practical. Otherwise I have to start with a ridiculously huge canvas area to store the exact coordinates of a single pixel's worth of data, as a vanishing point in-file.

As is, I have to work with an order of magnitude or more canvas area than necessary, wasting a lot of space and degrading ergonomics. Does anyone know of any workarounds? Or barring that, know enough script-fu, to describe to me how to place guides that intersect the canvas nowhere, yet still stay in place? I do know basic python but haven't touched script-fu yet.

Makes me miss how in Flash editor, waaay back in the day, you could put anything off-canvas.
