For one of my projects I would like to extract a specific part of a path, and make it a separate path to move around by itself. I have included some screenshots and the corresponding xcf file in the attachments.
One method I have already tried is with using the the ofn-path-edits.zip, to break apart all paths, and toggle the lock button and then move them around. This works, however; in my actual projects, I'm dealing with several hundred segments, all merged into one path. If I have totally break this down and, locate the right segments, toggle the ones I want to use, and then start moving them around, this is extremely time consuming.
My question;
is there a way to make a selection of a segment of a path (with some sort of free-hand tool?) to extract a specific part of a path, and make it a path by itself?
(pls see attachment for clarification).
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Warm regards,
How? So far I have only come across the path tool, but I haven't found any other way other than setting anchor points by free hand. I'd like to set the coordinates of those anchor points directly. How?
Hi there!
I've tried to open this topic here in Gimp 2.10 but I'm not allowed to start a thread there so, now I'm here.
I'm a newbie in Gimp!
I've read and watch many videos about using gimp and I'm happy so far.
Now I wanted to open an existing PDF. This works. I've created 3 groups, because my already existing PDF has 3 pages in it. So every group has a site in it. (a pdf site is handled by gimp as a "picture" ... so far I know ... and that's ok so far)
To this: In each group I have a bunch auf text layers.
Everything looks fine and looks like it should be!
Now I'm going to export as... pdf ... aaaand ... it's a desaster!
Gimp creates not only all groups as a site (what it should, actually) but also all layers, too!
In gimp everything looks great and correct, all layers are "on" the picture in every group itself... but when I export all groups every single layer is created as a site in the exported single pdf document. So I have now one PDF file with lots of lots of layers as sites. Stupid, I guess. *laugh*
Now: What did I wrong?
I mean, look at the end of this video! He can do it, but not me! *sigh* (I've not reproduced his video, I just start with an already existing PDF (an official form for a public authority)
Thank you very much for helping me out of my pdf desaster. ^.^
hi everyone, I'm a new user to gimp. I have uploaded vectors (svg) (animal shape vectors with outlines and no colour inside). How do i change the colour of the outline? So far I can only fill the inside with solid colour or pattern. I only want to change the outline colour as they will be on a black background. Please help.
Hi everyone, I am a new gimp user. Im trying to change the colours but cannot do so. It says the items have been transformed and cannot be changed. I have a few layers of texts, a few shape vectors(paths) and a few lines. I've made every individual item on their own layers. Please help. I wanna change the colours from black to different colours.
Recently I have been using the Carbon version (theme) in this forum. Although I prefer the Default version, browsing the forum with this The white background with gray gradients tires my eyes a lot, especially at night.
But in the Carbon version, using the Search option is not very intuitive or practical, so I choose to temporarily return to the Default mode to use this option which is much more functional in this Theme.
If I can make a suggestion, it would be:
Make the Default mode available in a Dark Theme version.
Or if the above suggestion is not possible / or interesting, at least make the Search tool more accessible in Carbon mode.
Has Gimp sorted out the compatibility problems with Big Sur? Some of the issues are
1. Selection not showing on Mac OS Big Sur though "Show Selection" is enabled
2. GIMP uses 40-90% of CPU while idle after migrating to Big Sur if there is an active selection
3. Very poor performance when painting.
4. Slow / laggy eraser
Last I heard the OSX programmer for Gimp is MIA and has been so for several months. Is that still the case?
Although this is annoying, it's also a wake up call for us to be more appreciative for their work. No wonder why programmers leave. People LOVE to complain but send little or no praise.
In the attached picture of wire ribbon matting, there is a shading effect that I guess was intended to simulate texture by the original artist. (the diagonal banding)
Is there a process in gimp to selectively darken the light spots while selectively lightening the dark areas, with the ultimate goal of achieving a uniform appearance? I've been playing around with alternate "dodge and burn" processes from a brush set larger than the overall image, with mixed success.
My gut feeling is that if I keep at it over and over long enough, I will eventually luck into an acceptable result. But knowing you folks are far more skilled than I, got me to wondering if there might be a better way, less depended upon random chance, that is repeatable, which one of you might share?
What was in the early days a time consuming job, now colourise a black and white photo is a piece of cake. Just upload a photo and it will be colourised instantly. You can colourise a few photos for free and then you have to pay for it. https://www.myheritage.nl/incolor?utm_so...e=20210307
There are a few other possibilities with your photos on this site like make a face alive or optimise a photo
A colourised one :
I've got a xcf file where I've created around 400 paths. I'm using it to change a color of the clothes of audience,
and now I would like to colorize each path with the same color. As far as I understood correctly there is no way to select multiple paths and apply color using Colours->Colourize tool, so I have to do it manually what is very tedious and log process (I need to do it for at leas 10 colors - 400 paths for each of them)..
I went into direction of writing a a script that does a job like Colours->Colourize tool instead
Current script looks like this:
def plugin_main(image, layer):
for p in image.vectors:
pdb.gimp_image_select_item(image,CHANNEL_OP_REPLACE,p)
pdb.gimp_edit_fill(layer, FOREGROUND_FILL)
it iterates over paths fine but instead of pdb.gimp_edit_fill I need to execute something like Colours->Colourize does.
