Draw along curve/selecion with warp tool
Posted by: sulu00 - 02-12-2020, 10:31 AM - Forum: General questions - Replies (6)

Hello,

does anyone know any workaround that allows using pinching warp tool (available in 2.10) automatically along curve? It seems to have been omitted in the drop-down where one select a tool for patch drawing. Maybe there is a script for that? Thanks in advance.

  Layers and Toolbox dockable problem
Posted by: sl60 - 02-11-2020, 11:00 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (1)

I don't know how I did this, but my Toolbox and Layers got scrambled up, so I reset them to default. Now the Toolbox settings are in Layers and both Toolbox and layers are fixed (not dockable). The only fix I can think of is to uninstall and reinstall. Gimp 2.10.12.

Any help?

Thanks in advance!

I found the answer! Somehow--not on purpose--I had it in "Single Window Mode"--I turned this off and now all is well!

Ooops--I spoke too soon! The brushes dialog is till in the Layers. How to move?

  Erase brushes
Posted by: Semaj - 02-11-2020, 03:53 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (2)

I have some homemade brushes I made and no longer want.
I cannot find out how to erase these unwanted ones.

I surfed the Internet and found a couple of replies but none worked for me.
For example, one suggested using the trash container icon at the bottom. I
could not find any trash containers.

Thanks for reading

  New user frustrations
Posted by: detourswithfrank - 02-10-2020, 03:53 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (3)

Hello all, and thanks in advance.
I am new to using GIMP and having some frustrations that I cannot overcome. I have used photoshop in the past so am somewhat familiar with the general functions of GIMP, but here are my issues

I am trying to create labels for products I am manufacturing. I want the finished image to have a transparent background so I can print on colored paper.
1) How can I select all layers (at once) to copy and paste into label template?
2) When I paste the text layer into template, the font quality decreases dramatically. How do I increase richness of text?

Thank you

  Fonts won't leave Gimp
Posted by: QuinB - 02-09-2020, 06:53 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (11)

Hi All,
Can anybody suggest what am I missing, here? (Apart from the good sense to quit when I'm beaten, I mean).

I've got around again to investigating the 'Gimp only shows the default font when I try and use a font' problem on Windows 10, as shown in this thread: Gimp-Forum – Fonts Can't Be Used

However, I don't seem to be able to clear the fonts I'm investigating out of Gimp!

.webp   Gimp fonts list 02.webp (Size: 5.47 KB / Downloads: 341)

The fonts are DEFINITELY NOT IN:
C:\Windows\Fonts
C:\Users\QuinB\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Fonts
C:\Users\QuinB\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\fonts
C:\Users\QuinB\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\fonts_storage§
%PROGRAMFILES%\GIMP 2\share\gimp\2.0\fonts
C:\Program Files\WindowsApps

Listed in Edit > Preferences > Folders > Fonts
§ Referenced by the Sean Bogie, MareroQ, Ofnuts' addonCollectionManager-3.0

The Windows services
Windows Font Cache Service
and
Windows Presentation Foundation Font Cache 3.0.0.0
were disabled, the system rebooted and
C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\FontCache and C:\Windows\System32\FNTCACHE.DAT deleted (and verified as deleted) before a further reboot and restart of the above services.
(I've even tried refreshing the fonts in Gimp after many restarts of the same)
And yet the fonts are still listed on Gimp, as shown above.

Again, can anybody suggest what I'm missing???

Photo Error Installing GAP
Posted by: jjs3 - 02-09-2020, 03:50 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (1)

I am running 2.10.14 and I Install GAP 4.10.2

Then  go to preferences/folders/plugins and then add the GAP folder to plug-in then restart.

I have tried this a few times with the same result-of this error:
" The code execution cannot proceed because cygwin1.dll was not found. Reinstall the program may fix this problem."

What am I doing wrong.

Default precision when opening via RawTherapee?
Posted by: mortoray - 02-09-2020, 12:23 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (1)

Is there someway to control the precision used when opening a file via RawTherapee?

Right now it always ends up in 16-bit integer, but I'd prefer 16-bit float mode. I'm hoping it'll actually use a float export as to avoid clipping, but it'd also be convenient enough if it just auto-converted afterwards, saving me the extra step.

Inserting Page Number Along With Additional Information
Posted by: Gimpy222 - 02-07-2020, 11:43 PM - Forum: Extending the GIMP - Replies (8)

I need to insert page numbers along with other information at the same location in over 300 pages.

It the example below I need to add "Introduction - Page X - Book II" to the center, bottom of a page, 50 pixels from bottom edge to bottom of the text box. X =  page number. Text is size 100, font Times New Roman Bold, anti-aliasing turned off. Later on it will change to "Chapter 1 - Page X - Book II", "Chapter 2 - Page X - Book II", etc.

I'm using Gimp 2.8

Is there a script available to this?

Thanks Sandy

Problems when using a drawing tablet
Posted by: Handyman282 - 02-06-2020, 07:02 PM - Forum: OSX - Replies (3)

Hi, I bought a used drawing tablet from Wacom (Bamboo Fun) and installed the latest drivers.
The tablet is not recognized as an input device in Gimp 2.10. Accordingly there are problems when using various tools in Gimp. So I ordered a brand new tablet from Amazon (Gaemon), because it is explicitly identified as Mac and Gimp compatible. Also this tablet does not appear as input device. I opened Gimp with and without a pen. Without result. Anybody got a hint?

Question Trouble installing a perl plug-in
Posted by: Rincewind - 02-06-2020, 06:12 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (6)

I got a waving flag plug-in for gimp. The file is called flag-waving. I copied it to the path '/home/rincewind/.config/GIMP/2.10/plug-ins/'. Made it executable for all users. I started Gimp and can't find the plugin.

Operating System: Lubuntu 19.08
Gimp: 2.10.8
I got the plugins folder path by going to Edit > Preferences > Folders > Plug-ins.
flag-waving appears to be a perl script, it has a shebang line, but not a .pl extension. Not sure if that is an issue.
I installed it with snap, and not apt, if that makes a difference.

What am I doing wrong?
