Disappearing Camouflage (no pun intended)

I'd like to tell you an interesting anecdote. I used a pattern in G'MIC (camouflage) in one of my picture manipulations. Later, I installed something called "Gimp extensions" (http://registry.gimp.org/node/27656) because the description said I could pick what filters and/or add-ons I wanted. This didn't happen, it just installed a bunch of filters without my control. What is interesting is that afterwards when i wanted to use the camo pattern again, it had disappeared from G'MIC! I had to re install G'mic to get it back!

No Preview on Shadows & Highlights Script

Hi from a Gimp newbie - been using a very old version of Photoshop till now.
I installed the Shadows & Highlights script successfully (I believe) by adding the file shadows-highlights-2-4.scm to the C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\share\gimp\2.0\scripts directory, but when I use it, I do not see any option for previewing my adjustments; I only see the results after I hit the OK button. How do I preview my adjustments?
Thanks for your help - and looking forward to great things from Gimp!

Good question for you gimpsters. Once you bring multiple images into a project, scale them to size, and position them, how does one go back to either re-scale, or move a prior object. Because the yellow and black lines surround the "last" object brought into the project. Which as long as the emphasis is on the "last" object brought into the project, re-scaling and re-positioning any prior objects are not permitted.

Why can't i no longer remove a background?

I have been removing backgrounds on gimp for a couple years..it's old hat. You open an image, apply alpha channel, use free select tool, go around image till ants march, go to select, scroll down to path/invert...back ground is GONE...but now I can't get it to remove the background anymore. I had some old images I wanted to bring the color up on. Saved them to JPG, and today I was going to remove background...but GIMP won't remove the background...."any" idea's! Thanks
Actually, I found out what is wrong. I have pictures that I used Microsoft Publisher to put a quick dark border around each one, then saved it as a jpg image. If I try to remove the image from "inside the" border, the background , including the border will be eliminated. If I try to include the border "with" the picture, "nothing' happens, the background does not get removed...anyone know why? Seems strange!! I went through microsoft publisher to apply a border, cause it is a whole lot quicker than gimp, to place a border around an object.

Cage Transform

Is there any likelyhood that Cage Transform will be fixed?
I use it on rare occasions - principally for making subtle changes to facial expressions in portraits. I think I have tried all the alternatives, but for this "peculiar" use, none gives the same precise control. (Albeit, that a small amount of clean-up is usually necessary after the event.)

TIFF to JPEG conversion kills dpi |

Hey, guys;
I'm not having much luck finding anything about this online. I scan drawings with a machine that runs on Windows, save the images and upload them on a cloud image-hosting site, download them onto my Linux machine and edit them in GIMP. I recently switched to saving the images as TIFF files before uploading and transferring them over, but all of a sudden I noticed that if I convert the TIFF to JPEG, it doesn't matter what the resolution is, GIMP automatically will change it to 72 dpi when I export the image as a JPEG.
I don't recall earlier versions of GIMP doing this, but I'm not sure as I only recently have been saving the images as TIFFs before converting them to JPEGs, whereas in the past I just saved as JPEG (I've been trying to avoid the artifacting that comes with working with JPEGs through multiple edits). So what gives? Is this a bug? Is there a patch or something I can install so that it doesn't do that anymore?
Thanks,
- jams

Set saturation and value for all pixels collectively [SOLVED]

Hello, Looks like a lively and positive forum, glad to find it.
How to set the saturation for all pixels to 100%? Likewise for value. I'm leaving hue alone.
The hue-saturation tool does not do this, as far as I can see. My evidence is this: create a new image any size, fill it entirely with hsv 215,20,45. In the color tool, use the color picker to select anywhere, which puts this color into the color tool's swatch. Slide the saturation and value to 100 each. Then in the hue-saturation tool, increase saturation and value (called lightness here) to maximum each. Compare the image with the swatch.
