I need to do the following to all open tif images in Gimp.
change mode from indexed color to grayscale
scale image to half size (from 9912x7008 to 4956x3504 and resolution from 600 pixels per inch to 300)
save to xcf format using current file name plus a -300 suffix
I have a couple hundred files in 25 folders to do. Doing one at a time is slow going. Any way to speed up the process?
Thanks Fred

Hi everyone I am new here. I use a mac all up to date. I run a Train simulator. And want to reskin some of the locomotives. I can manipulate the template of the locomotive ok, but my problem is when I am done I can't get rid of the last Rectangle Select tool dashed outline. And when I save my work and reopen it's still there. Flusteratring. Thank funnnyfarm

I am trying to completely remove the background from an image. I open the image, add an Alpha Channel, and then erase the background to all checkerboard. But when I export the image it still has a white background. Or what ever the color is selected for the background on the color selector.

Hello,
somebody did a poster for me in GIMP and we need to print it both in format A3 and A4. I usually export the file in ps by setting the X offset and the Y offset to 0, then use ps2pdf (if needed with the option -sPAPERSIZE=a3) to produce a pdf file. The X offset=0 and Y offset=0 were to eliminate a white border all around the ps file, but it does not seem to work, as in fact the ps file does contain a white border on top.
I really do not care about the intermediate ps file, as all I want is a pdf that can be printed both in A3 and in A4. Can you help me, please? You might have noticed that I am really a rookie trying to get by... Thanks.

My old Windows Vista laptop is showing it's age. Is there a way to use GIMP from an ipad or android or maybe a chromebook ?
If so - what are the downsides ? I'm already used to waiting a long, long time to start up and just about every operation too anyway.
