Hi. I am using Wonderful Gimp 2.10 in Windows 10. I have an image of a lock of hair that I need to manipulate into a spiral curl. Does anyone know how I could do that using the new warp feature, the other warp plugin, or some other tool I can use to do that? I am looking to create hair out of real images of straight locks of hair. The result would look much like the hair in the photo below. Thanks a bunch! Debby

I am having some problems installing Gimp 2.10 under Windows 7 Pro. With the default settings, the Tool Icons and additional User Interface Icons are missing. I can get the Tool Icons to show up by choosing the "Legacy" and "Use Icon Size from Theme" under Edit / Preferences / Interface / Icon Theme, but some of the User Interface Icons are still missing.

I'm trying to add layers to an existing image (photograph) using GIMP 2.10.  The purpose is to create a frame that is larger than the image.  By having it in a separate layer the color can be altered and optionally text added without having any affect on the photograph. 

When using the "Add Layer" (also called "New Layer") selection GIMP seems to create something that is larger but the transparent part is limited to the same space as the original layer.  Then when performing "Fill with FG Color" the only part that is filled is the transparent part occupying the same space as the original layer.

Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug or possibly something that can't be done by design?

Super super newbie to GIMP here - I have some experience with QuarkXPress though.

Apologies for the question if the answer is really obvious - have read the manual, searched on a couple of forums, but I'm a bit pushed for time

I've created a selection (I'm working with a circle today, designing a 12" vinyl sticker) with an image inside, and created a mask so I only see what's inside the circle, but my question is: how do I then import a different image inside the circular selection? I'm looking to do this a few times to see how various images look, and the only way I've been able to do it so far is to create a new selection each time I import an image/layer. Otherwise I can't seem to scale the image and move it around within the selection without it being cropped at the circular selection point.

In Quark it was very easy to do, so hoping there's an answer to this.

Hello, I am having alot of problems in the new Gimp 2.10 after opening one of my  images from 2.8
Since i was having performance issues i changed the layer mode from legacy Normal to current Normal as an experiment.
But for some reason the look of my image changed noticeably.
Can someone explain how the new Normal layer mode is different from the old one?

Bonus question: Why does it now take 2 minutes to open the export dialog.

I will make a request to GIMP developers to implement animation tool  in future GIMP (3.xx).

Basically, I was thinking it would be cool to animate parameters of the filters of GIMP and G'MIC with timeline and animation tool.
And making some kind of bones structure like in Blender just 2D ( Grease pencil and armature).

Also , I was thinking to get some kind of VFX 2D particle system to make cool animation effects (similar to Unity and After Effects https://youtu.be/vj1bUfSVBnY?t=1655) .

What do you think about this ?

Giving Gimp 2.10 a whirl here, there is a little difference in using the tools that needs getting used to.

   

Being a rough-old-engineer I like bridges. This one from 1905. Removed the modern overhead electric gantries. Rather than keeping the foreground and maybe desaturating the background, I did it the other way round. Using GEGL C2G I think brings out the nature of this old structure, the texture of the masonry in particular.

I loaded an image with RGB mode. I made a palette from the image. I also made a brush preset with a color in the palette just I created.

Then, I changed the mode to indexed mode for the image I'm working on. When I drew with the preset brush just I created, the color look different in the indexed image. The brush color I chose was originally from the image so I think the color should be the same whether it is on RGB or indexed mode.

Why is that so? I adjusted the opacity to make them look the same, but there is no way to make it work since the indexed brush color is way more clean.

This is quite useful but as of 2.10 I'm unable to see the File - Export Layers To / Export All Layers after pasting the PY in plugins folder along with its export_layers folder. Alternatives, fixes or any news for its fixing?
